Fir Trees Guest House

We stayed at Fir Trees in early May. My husband and I were cycling around England and Lake Windermere was our last leg. Tim and Vicki are the perfect hosts; friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They both went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and help us prepare for our daily rides in any way they could. The room we stayed in had a bath so we could soak our tired muscles at the end of each day. We didn't ask for a room with a bath, Tim just knew that we would need one. He is so thoughtful, he even washed, dried and folded our clothes for us. Breakfast each day was, again, above and beyond what one would expect. Fresh local produce, wonderful service and Tim's poached eggs were to die for. The food here was better than any fancy hotel we've stayed at. Tim and Vicki really made us feel as though their home was our home too. They are also an extremely lovely couple. We will definitely be staying here again next time we visit the UK. Positioned in between Bowness and Windermere this guesthouse is perfectly placed to access each village within a 10 minute walk. Even in heavy snow, it was nice and easy to access restaurants, pubs and bars. The service was very friendly and welcoming, and the room clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and freshly cooked to order with perfectly sized portions. We particularly enjoyed the homemade flapjacks which were much appreciated whilst walking in the snow! Thanks for helping make our stay enjoyable and memorable, we look forward to returning

Absolutely brilliant stay over the bank holiday weekend. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly and really know the area well and gave me great suggestions of where to hike, visit and some indoor attractions in case the weather didn't work out! The room was perfect for my needs as a base camp to rest in between days of walking and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and I was so pleased that there were vegetarian options and the veggie full-English was just the fuel I needed for a long day of walking. 10/10 recommendation and I will be back the next time I visit the Lakes :)

Amazing B&B, owners are fantastic, they make you feel super welcomed and help you plan your stay/hikes if needed. They also give your free snacks to take to your hikes. Shower in the room was outstanding. Couldn’t recommend more!

We had a weekend here in early December. We arrived very late due to the snow, Tim and Vicki gave us a warm welcome and were brilliant hosts for the time we were there. Breakfast was cooked to order and really set you up for the day. The room was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We feel like we've found a hidden gem and will definitely return.

From the moment we arrived till the time we left, we were made to feel very welcome! Wonderfully run guest house, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The room was a good size, clean and tidy, and the bathroom was very nice too. The breakfast was great especially the pancakes! Not sure when I’ll visit again but I will and I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it. Great location within walking distance to Windermere and to Bowness. Thank you to the staff, appreciated your warm hospitality.

Spent week here with family. Rooms all en suite and clean. Kitchen good size - maybe could do with another fridge freezer and looks like there was a space for one already. Only catch was there is no formal sitting room, we brought sofa like chairs into dining room but mostly ended up sitting round dining table. Location was great. Probably 10 mins walk down the way towards pier and 10 up the way to another set of shops and restaurants.

We stayed again at the Fir Trees Guest House and the result is exactly the same again. !!!! Fantastic hosts, so friendly, great ensuite rooms superb breakfast with lots of options and a brilliant location... The Fir Trees is always our go to choice when staying in the Lakes..
